What is Crypto & Bitcoin Trading?

Cryptocurrency markets trade 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, on exchanges around the world. Bitcoin (BTC) is the largest by market value, followed by Ether (ETH); thousands of smaller coins, often called altcoins, trade alongside them.

Crypto can be traded spot — you own the coin — or through derivatives such as perpetual futures, which add leverage and funding costs. Futures make it possible to profit from falling prices, but leverage in a market this volatile means positions can be liquidated within minutes.

Bitcoin's supply is capped at 21 million coins, and new issuance halves roughly every four years. Many traders watch these halvings, flows into spot Bitcoin ETFs and overall risk appetite in stock markets as drivers of the crypto cycle.
